April 2012

Well spring is here, or is it summer? I love this weather, but I also feel like I should be waiting for the other shoe to drop. I haven’t put away the snow shovel so you can’t blame me if it does change. Just enjoy while you can. As for the quilting world, our seasons are somewhat mixed up, but are always interesting. As we move to the warm season the fabric turns to the fall and winter season, as well as some great collections for anytime of the year. As we continue with the Cotton Club Civil War Block of the Month we will also be starting a new one with a summer theme, as well as a new Mystery Quilt that will be a fun challenge as well as a wonder what it is… New books and patterns are always a revolving door and some big authors are on the horizon with new releases. There will also be another block swap in June, details are inside. So stop in take a look at the new block of the month or start a good mystery, join a block swap, and above all enjoy the weather…

Sewing Machine Cleaning

MARK YOUR CALENDAR, BRIAN WILL BE BACK TO CLEAN MACHINES:

  • COST:  $35
  • MACHINES MAY BE DROPPED OFF STARTING THE MONDAY BEFORE CLEANING DAY.

Shhhh….It’s a Mystery!!!

There will be no peeking or reading the ending first, but I can let you know it is not a hard quilt and you will have a great feeling of satisfaction when it is complete. I can give you a few clues, it is about 60” square and is in a mix of colors so it can go in a lot rooms. It will go over a 5 month period, it has some fusible appliqué on it. First month clue will be the cutting instructions with the kit, the rest of the clues will start the first week of May and the first week of the next months. The mystery is fun and you will find out you can always learn something or find out you really knew how to begin with. This is something that would make a great gift for a wedding or shower and you would have the fun of making it. Call and register, so I know how many kits to make, and see if you are one who can figure out what you are making. My lips are sealed for those of you who try and get the clues early, you know who you are!!!

“Summer  Blessing”   BOM

A new Block of the Month will be starting in May, it will have a summer theme and will go for 11 months.  It will be ready for next summer.  Kites, flowers, wagons and pinwheels are a part of this quilt, all you need is the wicker furniture, a pitcher of lemonade and a good book so you can sit and admire your handiwork for years to come.

Blocks will be ready the first weeks of the month starting in May.  Cost for kit and pattern will be $18.00 a month.  That will cover the whole top, borders and binding.  If you do pattern and no kit it will be $6.00 a month.

Call to register 262-723-1213.  Please let me know kit or just pattern by the end of  April so I can order patterns needed.

Block Swap…. Baskets

Have some fun, meet new people, and above all get rid of scraps. I think that is a win win situation. Dig in your stash and make a treasure for years to come or a great gift. You will make 32 basket blocks, turn them into me and I will sort them out. Swap night stop and pick them up and I will have some suggestions as to different ways you can set your blocks or ideas to use for smaller projects. Have a root beer float and meet people that love to do quilting as much as you do. Stop in, sign up, pick up the guidelines to follow and your pattern and get busy. I will also have kits for those of you that don’t have scraps to use. I’m not sure I have met anyone that doesn’t have scraps; I thought we were born with them, kind of like a dowry. Hope to see you there.
