Spring 2015

Greetings, once again another season change, and I am more than ready for spring and summer. Warmer weather is always so much easier to deal with, makes everything run smoother. This also means it is the season for quilt shows and shop hops. This year we are joining in the Wisconsin State Shop Hop, the fabric should be arriving any day now, so exciting !!! Stop in and pick up the shop hop flyer with all the info and the shops that are participating, when to get your passport and hours that all the shops are open, it should be a lot of fun… Read on for a few other things to get involved in, Simple Whatnots II, a fall leaf block swap, and a Christmas Mystery to get involved with, just to name a few.

  • WISCONSIN STATE SHOP HOP : JUNE 5 – 27
  • SHOP HOP HOURS: M—F 9:30 – 5:30 SAT – 9 --4

SIMPLE WHATNOTS II

This is the next set of small quilt done by Kim Diehl. With the use of her new fabric collection Heritage Hollow these will be a great addition to your small quilt grouping hanging on your wall, over the back of a chair, or as a gift. The size of the quilts make it a great opportunity for you to try different techniques for quilting or applique. We will meet on the third Friday of the month at 1PM for the next six months. Simple Whatnot patterns plus a few extras as well as some recipies for you to make, $30 for 6 months, please call to register 723-1213. Kits will be available.

FALL LEAF BLOCK SWAP

I have been asked to do a leaf block swap again, colors for my favorite season. This seems strange since we are just getting to the warmer weather to talk already of fall, but for a change I am trying to be ready ahead of time. Here are the details, this will be a 5” finished block, come in and pick up a pattern and select a color for your leaves, that way we won’t end up with a lot of the same color. I will have colors to pick from or the yardage you will need for background and color. You will make 56 blocks, turn in date is on or before July 29. Swap night is August 8 at 6PM or anytime that day or after. I have a quilt pattern or you may have your own plan on how to finish your quilt, but just imagine a quilt of golds, reds, greens, oranges, purples and browns to cuddle up in on those cool fall nights, just for you.

CHRISTMAS MYSTERY

I guess I really am getting ahead of myself, now I’m getting ready for Christmas, for a change maybe I am organized, I guess that remains to be seen. This quilt is done in cream, red and green, it is 72” X 72”, it will go over the next 5 months, and there is no applique, that’s all I can say, the rest is up to you to figure out.
Pick up a kit and in JUNE and once a month after, on the first Saturday of the month stop in for your clues and by the end of October you will have a quilt ready for the holiday season. A Christmas present to yourself.
