Welcome to 2012. Wishing you the best in the New Year, as we all hope things will improve on many things going on in this world. The one thing we can’t complain about is our weather, but I think we all know we will pay for this at some time this winter, so enjoy now. Here at the shop we are making way for the new spring fabric, so keep tabs as it slowly comes in. Classes will be starting up soon so take a look at the schedule and give one a try. The new block of the month will be starting in March, and it will have a summer theme this year, more information will be coming soon. Read on and see about the fabrics, books and classes to come. 2011 Blocks of the Month Those of you that did last years BOM, the fall one and the redwork embroidery one, please look to make sure you have all the patterns to finish your wall hangings. I will have the patterns thru the month of February. In March we will be starting the 2012 Summer Blessings Quilt. Thank you. Primitive Quilts Magazine We now carry the new magazine that started last year called Primitive Quilts. It is published four times a year and is full of great projects and quilts. Winter issue is out now so stop in and get your copy soon. BEGINNING QUILTING - NINE PATCH TABLE RUNNER This is where you start. Learn how to rotary cut, strip piece, get borders to lay flat and hand quilt your project and put a binding on. These steps are what you would do for quilts of any size.
BACK BASTING APPLIQUE Learn how to do needle turn appliqué without the use of freezer paper. This method is a favorite of mine and I found it to be very easy and accurate and is a great pastime as you watch your picture come to life with color.
MACHINE QUILTING Learn all the steps to do your own machine quilting. How to use your walking foot and darning foot to do free motion stipple. Walking foot and darning foot needed for your machine.
MACHINE APPLIQUE Learn all the different stitches you can use to appliqué and all about stabilizers, how and when to use them.
VANILLA STARS This will be one to keep you nice and warm on those cold winter nights. Made with warm soft flannel and it is a quilt that a beginner could make.
HAPPY TRAILS This quilt is made in warm cocoas, tans and cream with trails of red flower vines between the rows. Easy strip piecing and use of rick rack and fusible appliqué.
MADDIE BEAS QUILT This one was a new adventure for me and a fun one to do. This quilt was made using a Rhombus ruler, and the best part it is a two fer quilt. As you use the ruler, the pieces you cut off to square up, you use to make a smaller doll quilt size.
New Books and Fabrics Some of the new fabrics have started to arrive for spring. Blueberry Crumb cake – Blackbird designs – blues, cream tans Buggy Barn fabrics – shades of grays blues and salmons New civil war fabrics also arriving. Coming soon, new collection by Primitive Gatherings to go with her blacks and tans. Also coming are flannels to go with Primitive Gathering flannel. And believe it or not in April and May start the fall and Christmas fabrics for next year, that’s what make the years seem to go so fast I think. Books
